iPhone Apps Bring Families Closer Together

By admin | May 5, 2010

Mobile technology can be a blessing or a distraction depending on how families use it in their everyday lives. Some iPhone developers have developed a positive channel for bridging families together. Their apps represent how technology improves communication in ways that will have a lasting impact in years to come. I discovered two great examples of iPhone family-oriented apps that facilitate building deep family bonds.

My Pictures Talk, developed by Grembe Inc., captures the moment through pictures and audio recordings. iPhone App Bridges Families Together As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words and this app demonstrates it. Even though the iPhone has photo and recording capabilities, this app combines the two tasks in a simple, no brainer way, enabling the user to focus on the message. As an example, take a two year old child who is learning how to talk and bring him to a zoo for the first time. Take a picture of him interacting with the animals and record his voice pronouncing the name of the animal. When you categorize the photos, voice recordings and sounds are combined with the pictures. The best part about this app is sharing the photos and audio with friends and family. Shoot off an email or post it on Facebook right from the app.

Another app that builds fun, better quality family communication is Family Matters developed by Weiner Family Studios. iPhone App Bridges Families Together This app promotes family bonding. Instead of lack of communication, this app prompts communication. It is designed to be a tool to help parents communicate more effectively with their kids. It accomplishes this by providing users with a set of questions and conversation starting activities to generate deeper conversations. Users select a category and either shake or swipe the device to get a random question to kick start an interaction. Other ways to share activities and answers include emailing to friends and family or posting to Facebook.

Both applications take mobile technology to a new level to connect families in modern times. Recent studies have shown that too much technological stimulation can be a detriment to families. This can pull them apart in different directions. These apps prove just the opposite. They take advantage of technology to enhance communication and bring families closer together.

Save your child from a life of mediocrity! It’s well publicized that there is strong relationship between math ability and career success. The first step in this process is creating a healthy RELATIONSHIP with math. Yes, you read that right, a relationship with math. Math is just like anything else that a kid is learning. If they have some success and enjoy the topic while having some fun, they’ll be willing to practice and they WILL get better. Positive thoughts coupled with success yields positive results!
So use that new iPad to help your son or daughter work on the foundations of math, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, all while they are playing a fun, interactive game of Tic Tac Math®. Tic Tac Math® makes your new iPad a math learning tool for your son or daughter in the car, while waiting in a restaurant, sitting at the doctor or dentist’s office or anywhere that kid’s say, “I’m bored!”

This is a nice article. I struggle with all of the games and even some of the educational apps that distract my children and frankly make it too easy to turn the phone into a babysitter. I’ll look for more apps like this.

Word and Math apps are great but there are tons of them. Apps that let you make memories and really enjoy time together are hard to find.

    Thanks!
