How do preschool kids learn about words? One way is to associate words with actions. To kickoff the blog, I chose to let the world know about iTouchiLearn Words, an iPhone app that teaches preschool kids about the context of words.

iTouchiLearn Words features entertaining animations and engaging word games that teach your toddler and preschooler a series of words, spellings and associated actions while making them laugh. Players receive virtual rewards for correct answers. I have to admit that I am the developer of this app, so I am a little biased. To give you a more objective view, I will write it from the point of view of my two and a half year old granddaughter, Julia. Julia is very selective about her favorite apps. iTouchiLearn Words is one of many. I want her to play the field when it comes to iphone apps. I know that it is one of her favorites because she always comes back to it on her own. She is speech delayed and this type of app has encouraged her to say the words out loud and receive virtual rewards for her correct answers. She laughs out loud when she watches the animations and has her favorites there too.
Available at the App Store: $.99
